The Lionfish is an introduced and invasive species of fish. They are beautiful, but deadly. In the Caribbean sea, the lionfish have no natural predators, so they eat all other fish.
As a result, they multiply quickly and are a nuisance and a danger to the underwater life of our island. That is why, under strict rules, hunting this fish helps contribute to a healthy reef system.
Lionfish hunting starts with a theoretical part, where we discuss how not to damage the other marine life and reef during this dive. We also teach you how to hunt safely, how to avoid being stung by the poisonous spines, and we practice with the hunting equipment.
After doing 2 hunting dives, we will teach you how to clean the lionfish, remove the poisonous spines and prepare the fish on the barbecue in two different ways.
Then it is time to enjoy an extensive barbecue with this sweet firm whitemeat fish.

At “About Jackie Fine Diving” we also offer the possibility of getting your Nitrox diving certificate, currently one of the most popular PADI’s that is often obtained together with the Advanced Open Water diver course. Diving with Enriched Air (Nitrox / EAN) means you have more time underwater.
During the course you will learn the theoretical knowledge of planning and organizing a dive with Nitrox. In practice we will teach you all the procedures and skills you need during 2 dives. For example, you learn to analyze the contents of the diving cylinder and to plan a dive by using the special tables or dive computers.
If you dive with compressed air and you dive to a wreck at 30 meters, you can stay under water for a maximum of 17 minutes at a depth of 30 meters. With a Nitrox tank you can extend your dive by 11 minutes and you can stay under water for up to 28 minutes at a depth of 30 meters.
After completing this course you will be able to dive anywhere in the world with a Nitrox tank.

During the navigation dive course you will learn all about underwater navigation, an important diving skill so that you always know where you are going and how to return. Are you in possession of a PADI(or junior) Open Water diving certificate? Then a night dive course is something you really want to do during your stay on our beautiful island. The underwater world looks completely different in the dark than in daylight. At night fish and sea creatures appear that you cannot see during the day.
During sunset we step into the water, which is an experience in itself because of the breathtaking sky. With a flashlight we navigate you along the most beautiful underwater places at night. We teach you how to navigate in the dark and how to communicate with your buddy. We will do 3 night dives and some theory.
